“ZARTNIR” Monitoring Progress Report of July 2011

Within July 2011 Isabel Nicholson and Shahd AlShehail, the representatives from Global Giving online fundraising network visited Armenia. As GCCI had applied to be registered on Global Giving website, GCCI team welcomed Global Giving representatives to GCCI office. Mr. Artyom Grigoryan, the executive director of GCCI, presented the activities of GCCI, also the implemented projects of whole history of GCCI till now. After presentation of GCCI activity, Global Giving representatives and GCCI team members together visited "ZARTIR" Computer Center in Noratus village and Fish Farming in Sarukhan village. Global Giving (GG) representatives had a conversation with Vahan Soghomonyan, the owner of Computer Center, also with Vahan Safaryan, the owner of fish farming business about their current activities. The key factor that GG representatives were interested in was the impact assessment of cooperation between their businesses and GCCI. After these visits GG representatives presented the history and the activities of Global Giving to GCCI team. They also emphasized the importance of joining to GG network, as it would be a great chance to make the activities visible growing up the opportunities for fundraising. GCCI has already joined GG network as a member of consortium of "Economic Development of Rural Communities" since May 2011.

After few days GCCI representatives participated in workshop organized by Global Giving. The main goal of workshop was presentation on how to introduce organization activities on Global Giving website more effective.

Building construction activities for starting Dry Fruit Production business are almost done in Ptghavan village of Tavush region (images are attached below). According to the agreement signed between Andranik Veranyan (Dry Fruit Production business owner) and Regional Employment Center of Tavush region, eight people are currently participating in trainings organized by Andranik Veranyan in order to become workers for Dry Fruit Production. The business will be ready to start production process after the second half of August.

Within July, Vahan Safaryan, the owner of Fish Farming business, received license from Ministry of Finance of RA in order to create new basins. Currently this business is the biggest supplier of fresh fish for shops and restaurants in Gegharkunik region. Business also produces and provides other fish farming businesses in Armenia with small fish.

As it was introduced in previous progress report, the achievements on increasing the income of Computer Centers’ Owners and promoting "ZARTNIR" brand, "ZARTNIR" development team and Computer Centers’ owners jointly develop official websites for network’s businesses. The website will include service portfolio provided by business. The main aim of this website is to create a virtual community platform for “ZARTNIR” network clients.
